Inner Warrior Yoga Class Description
We connect to the body and breath with gentle Tantric Yoga exercises and Tantric breathing which will begin to release tightness in the hips and balance energy in the sacral chakra (emotional centre of the body) where desires, feelings and emotions are stored. A range of subtle flowing movements including Kundalini grinds will ignite the sacral chakra energy flow, giving the pelvic floor muscles a great workout and kick starting the endocrine system.
The dynamic phase of the class combines tantric and kundalini yoga exercises, strengthening holds and body rotations. All moves encourage fluidity of motion, burn calories, sculpt and tone the body. The combination of Kundalini Yoga exercises and Tantric Yoga breathwork clears blocks in the energetic field and energises the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, nervous and endocrine systems.
Soothing stretches with long holds stablise heart rate. Upon completion you will feel invigorated and totally blissed out!

What is Tantric Yoga and Kundalini Yoga?
Tantric Yoga is a relatively modern version of ancient vedic and yogic spiritual practices incorporating yoga postures (asana) and breathing exercises (pranayama). Opening yourself up to tantric practice opens up sexual channels and provides intimacy for couples.
Kundalini Yoga incorporates repeated movements or exercises, dynamic breathing techniques, chanting, meditation and mantras. Each specific kundalini exercise (kriya) is a movement which is synchronized with the breath.
The endocrine system (endocrine system is the collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep and mood) will be stimulated and release vital energy flow throughout the whole body.
Meditation techniques stimulate the pituitary gland.
The following yoga poses assist with the following organs:
• Bridge pose, camel pose and plow pose – thyroid.
• Chest openers and shoulder openers, such as cow face pose – thymus.
• Core strengthening poses, such as boat – pancreas.
• Hip openers, such as cow face pose and cobbler’s pose – reproductive glands.
• Grounding poses and hamstring stretches, such as standing forward bend – adrenal glands.
• Camel pose moves blood into the adrenal glands.
How do I find my pelvic floor muscles?
Pelvic floor muscles are the layer of muscles that support the pelvic organs and located at the bottom of the pelvis. To identify these these muscles, imagine you are stopping the flow of urine and at the same time squeeze the rectum muscles. As you squeeze, suck muscles inwards inside the pelvis
Try this Pelvic Exercise
- Relax the muscles in pelvic region gently
- Feel the pelvic floor muscles lifting
- As you squeeze inwards, feel the deep abdominals draw in
- Breathe normally as you squeeze
- Keep your upper body relaxed above belly button
- Hold for up to 10 seconds
- After you have contracted muscles, relax and loosen muscles
The Lowdown on Stretching
Stretching is really important for your muscles as they should always be warm before exercising. You can warm up with simple stretches like jumping jacks, jogging on the spot or light squats. The main purpose is to get the body’s temperature high enough to prevent injury.
It’s important to mix static stretches (deep, slow stretches which are a singular motion held in place for ten seconds or more and dynamic stretches,
dynamic stretches (a form of active movement that isn’t about holding a stretch but rather taking your body through ranges of motion that will better prepare you for your workout or sporting activity).
Body flexibility takes time and should never be rushed and deep breathing should be always be combined with stretching, so the nervous system receives relaxation signals. Breathing needs to be deep in the lower belly and back of the ribs, instead of shallow upper chest, where the majority of people breathe.
Deep full breathing
Deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to your brain bringing a stage of relaxation and calmness. You will connected to your body and quietens
the mind. Try this powerful Breathing Technique:
- Breath in for 4 counts
- Hold for 7 counts
- Breath out for 8 counts
- Repeat the sequence 10 times for beginners
